 Paneer Tika is a traditional dish from the Paneer community of Meghalaya, India. It is a type of grilled or roasted chicken dish that is marinated with a blend of spices and cooked over a charcoal fire. Here's a simple recipe for Paneer Tika:

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into small pieces
  • 2 tbsp mustard oil
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Lemon wedges, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Clean the chicken pieces thoroughly and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the mustard oil, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, black pepper powder, and salt.
  3. Mix well to form a smooth marinade.
  4. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and coat them well.
  5. Cover the bowl with a cling wrap or lid and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow the chicken to absorb the flavors of the marinade.
  6. When ready to cook, preheat your grill or barbecue to medium-high heat.
  7. Thread the chicken pieces onto skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
  8. Grill the chicken skewers over the hot coals, turning them frequently, until they are evenly cooked and slightly charred on all sides.
  9. Once cooked, remove the skewers from the grill and transfer the chicken pieces to a serving platter.
